Juliet Lawson was born and educated in London. She wanted to become an artist but joined a rock band 'on a whim'. Having discovered Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins she was inspired to take up 12-string guitar and compose songs which was a deflection from her stage design course. She was signed to Sovereign Records in 1974 but her debut album, Boo, was never released until it came out on CD in October 2005, after Juliet found the two inch tape masters. Her music career went into suspension whilst she raised a family until 1980 when she re-emerged and collaborated with Peter Hope and wrote the music for Channel 4’s Chips Comic. She met two record producers Mark and Barry Sinclair (Bim and Bud) and started planning a new album in 1992. This became 'The One That Got Away' which was released via mail order and slowly but surely picked up a modest following, mostly by word of mouth. In 1998 Juliet put on a one-woman show the autobiographical Throw it On the Water which was performed in Rosemary Branch, Jermyn Street and Wimbledon Studio theatres in London. She released 'Where I'm Coming From' in 2002, produced by John Hamilton. |
